MINBOS RESOURCES' PHOSTATE PROJECT IN CABINDA WILL BE OPENED NEXT MONTH

The Cabinda Phosphate Project of the Australian multinational Minbos Resources Ltd will be inaugurated in April, as part of the Technical and Scientific Days of the Mining Workers' Day, which take place from the 15th to the 27th of April.

With the motto "The Revolution and Perspectives of Mining Activity in Angola", the mining worker's days this year include a series of activities in the provinces of Huambo, Lunda Norte, Cabinda and Luanda.

Alongside the Cabinda Phosphate Project, scheduled to be inaugurated on April 27th, the MIREMPET program, to which Minas de Angola had access, also foresees the inauguration of the selection plant for the Somiluana diamond project.

The Cabinda phosphate project results from the concession license that the company obtained in 2021 for the exploration of phosphates in the Cacáta deposit (Cabinda), a region that forms a large basin with the Mongo Tando, Chivovo and Chibuete, whose total reserves reach 391, 3 million tons of phosphorites, with an average phosphorus content of 9.2%.

The Cabinda Phosphate Project includes a factory with capacity to process 187 thousand tons/year of fertilizers, which will, in the first phase, supply the Angolan market, feeding the agricultural regions, in order to boost agri-business. Once production begins on a large scale, the phosphate will be exported to the main international markets, said Lindsay Reed, during a recent interview with Minas de Angola, to be published this week.

In addition to this project, Minbos Resources is also involved in a green ammonia and fertilizer production initiative, powered by the Capanda Hydroelectric Plant, in Malanje. The portfolio also includes the Lucunga and Pedra do Feitiço projects, both in Zaire.
