It's worth keeping in mind how the context has changed over a 20 year period.
In 2001 copper was ~ 65 cents (US) and gold was US$250.
Mining methods have developed, the EV revolution is upon us and money printing is in fashion.... back when RIO surrendered the tenements they were not commercial.
