Not sure of the situation with onshore drilling but this suggests to me that one strategically placed well location could cover multiple oil pools (a tie back set up). This basically turns the flank(s) into one big oil pool. This as opposed to having separate drills for each lead which is costly. The right set of data could entice a partner.

Its a plodding business and a lot more needs to be done on the conventional front.
