That reference to Fluorspar (Fluorite) is a lot more interesting than David lets on. I have just spent an hour going back thru my 50 yr old Geology texts, which describe the presence of Fluoride as being a major controlling factor for the amount of RE's in the Carbonatites. In fact my Mineralogy text states the RE's are the only elements that can substitute for Calcium in Calcite ~ for those who remember their high school chemistry, Hydro-Fluoric Acid is one of the most corrosive (dissolves metal) substances and will even etch glass !
