Plenty of people, possibly including yourself, bought into the dream spun by FML before they reversed tack and bought Laverton. Since then there's been very little.
The whole TI premise was built on a theory of cyclical recurrence of major gold provinces along the Boulder Lefroy Fault (Paddington / Golden Mile / New Cel / St Ives / TI) and the presence of some very thin high-grade quartz veins at the surface on the island itself. There's no doubt those veins exist, but a few thin quartz veins don't make a mine.
The other key theory was that every one else prior to FML had mapped the BLF in the wrong place. It's a variation on the "everyone prior to us was an idiot" spiel. If correct, that theory had TI on the southwest side of the fault in the same domain as St Ives et al. There's not much gold known on the other side of the BLF although that doesn't mean it isn't gold-bearing, just that it would be a different geological domain to St Ives.
