I too picked up that the poles were too fat for drill pipe but saying they were bore casings wasn't going to work.

I tried to establish one years ago but GDY have kept that town so tight - no way.
I remember we were grooming 'kashga' at one time and it was starting out well but then I heard he had received threats so awful that no red blooded man could ignore.

What would probably be easier though would be to get a mole within NASA to have astronauts report if suddenly it seemed a new city has appeared overnight in the Cooper Basin as they passed over. A give away of a trial, which as you point out they will have to do, before Pomp & Circumstance day.
