Amigo, I find Wikipedia is a good starting point for all terms that are strange or new. It can give a detailed explanation of about how supergene ore is formed. Basically it means that the upper layers of rocks are altered by millions of years of weathering and erosion. The pyrite (and other similar minerals) in the rocks are changed/altered by acid which dissolves the rock and leaves high grade metals (such as visible or native gold and copper). The supergene layers develop higher grades of metals in rocks at about the top of the water table (in the oxidised zone). Also, the announcement mentions evidence of porphyry intrusions, which could mean that the supergene layer of copper sits on top of a large mineralised system (maybe of copper-gold? but they don't actually venture that far.) Who knows what or how big such a system could be?
