I agree with you and think this has always been on the cards, with AIC wanting to focus on development and growth in Qld, and divest other non- core projects.
However AC wants an aspirational good enough deal for A1M holders, and agreement has likely not been very easy to achieve with suitable terms to both parties.

Perhaps they have negotiated a sensible deal for all & might now accept a low enough upfront price for CopperSearch to consider.
