Market depth has always been thin so it is not a sign of weakness.
The DJIA is having a breather after rallying from 16000 to almost 18000. Very normal after a strong bull run.
At a guess, I suspect they are trying to trigger stop losses or encourage technical selling since it broke the through the support level at 15 cents.
All in all, they trying to encourage sellers at low prices pre-results so he can buy at rock bottom prices.
