Very often at open and close one share is involved as the final transaction. That's because smart cookies (probably using sophisticated software) fix their buy or sell number to make sure they get either the pip lower or pip higher for themselves, depending whether they're buying or selling. And without the software they use you can't beat them manually by varying your own order as late as possible. They will always have the last say.
