1. The geology was uncalibrated until the drill. No other wells on the play.
2. You can't definitively find out whether an exploration prospect holds oil or gas until you drill it.
3. If geologists and geophysicists could reliably predict oil or gas 100% (or even 50%) of the time they would rule the world, JB would be a squillionaire (he may be but keeping it a secret) and not bothering with a small listed company.
