there could be a chance for what you say or--as others have pointed out, if they sold down that many shares now it would be pretty risky- as they would be looking for a quick sale considering where we are on the timeline.
I'd be more inclined to think they are perhaps being honest in the report- and maybe they know what's coming with regards to opportunities to buy and sell to make more and increase holding.
As strategic investors this move may have just been to increase there balance sheets for other financial reasons.
time will tell, it's all part of investing.
