This is posted just as something to think about .... we should all be familiar with autonomous driving vehicles ... only logical to extend to shipping.
Why is it important .... all to do with "operating expenses" ... biggest cost of transportation after the capital cost of the ship is the crew ... the longer the voyage the higher the cost (#crew hours) ... and that's really important in those longer LNG ship journeys ... not so for GEV and shorter journeys ... but what it does do in the long term view is reduce the landed cost of LNG ... our competitor in may ways.
Only because I hold a couple of "fossil fuel shipper stocks" and this is a long term view of the industry from them and their view as a provider of ships on "time charter" (as the owner of a vessel, they charter (rent) out thevessel (e.g. to major O&G company) for a givenperiod of time and as the owner they provide and payfor the crew and maintenance of the ship) - so crewing costs are important to them.
Now GEV ships would really look like "floating pipeline" with no crew on board and a hull full of CNG hex pipes!
