Sector overall also has a bad rep now esp. with Malaysian glove companies being highlighted for worker exploitation. Had to do mandatory workplace training on anti-slavery recently and this was specifically highlighted as a case study. Can't say all companies are equal but then that's the overall impression.
On top of that, Malaysian politics are all topsy-turvy as usual :/ Never a dull moment!
