Ex diplomat and currently living in China with a Chinese wife, and children. Tony is definitely NOT political in approach. He literally can't do that and stay in China and he's very careful what he does say it's always based on facts: most journalists have been given their marching orders.

But the Chinese are not actually confident of their approach and are consulting widely including with informed commentators.
Tony quotes excellent sources such as Michael Petis who is an academic in China and very close to the action.

Tony is NOT making scary predictions and he hasn't said China is finished. It does however have to recalibrate and the finance and housing sectors are really taking the consequences of decades of uncontrolled speculation and corruption. He always has the data to back what he's saying and he quotes others, very rarely gives a personal opinion.

I don't think there is any question that gold is going to do well. It will. IMO
