I would imagine the market sees the current gold spike is just that - a spike. If you are producing now, then its fine as this price flows straight to the bottom line, but if AMD find anything then even in best case, there wouldn't be a mine there for maybe 6-7 years, and so todays gold price is rather irrelevant.
