RIO are stitching up Turquois Hill because they don't mind it taking the dilutive event.
Remember the case of Reko Diq in Pakistan, great copper resource that was taken over on the ASX, made it to mine and then the rug. I remember because I made a very good return investing in TCC before it was taken over. Eventually, the company was awarded US$5.976 billion in compensation against Pakistan.
My point is: we aren't naive about the issues, the prize is just so large that it's worth the risk/reward.
