So you'd lend $16m of your own cash very short term to someone and not expect a return on what is still a relatively risky investment? Not trying to be smartarse but it always pays to look at a the issue from the other party's shoes.
They get a relatively modest 0.8m - $1.6m now for taking on the risk and some options (which they'll have to cough up a useful $12m for) which don't dilute the SP now as it stands. The facility will be very short term (no more than 2 months?) so there will be next to no interest.
It's not easy to get significant funding at the drop of a hat when it's crucial to your entire (very worthwhile) enterprise and your stocks are (unfortunately and irrationally) not high.
