Just before 9:15 tonight, Sky News was reporting that Saddam was in negotiations with General Sanchez with a view to surrendering in return for safe passage to Belarus. In return, Saddam was going to disclose details of his banking accounts, and of the WMD.
According to Sky, the negotiations whilst being led by General Sanchez were being overseen by Condoleeza Rice, with President Bush being kept apprised of emerging developments.
So far, I have not seen this story being reported on CNN, Reuters or Fox. So, it remains whether Sky has taken the edge on this one, or whether the story is one of conjecture /rumour. By the morning, we should know.
