lol! I had to think 3x about this before I got it.
Let's change the scenario a bit:
5 people in a boat in the middle of the ocean.
A couple of them looked at each, then started yelling: the engine does not have enough gas, and the boat is sinking! We have to jump off otherwise it will drag us down with it once it sinks.
So 3 eventually do jump off, believing the the statistics and 'knowhow' the other 2 were spouting.
Once they were a bit aways, the other 2 started the boat and drove off with the other peoples' valuables...
sorry, I got carried away there...
