Yeah am not convinced that Barrick put in enough effort in their exploration, they were only interested in tier 1 type deposit and it was almost as if they were looking for one sticking out of the ground.
I imagine most bigger deposits started out as near surface deposit but it was down deep that held the higher grades, Smarts was shaping up like that and there was Hicks deeps as well. Had Try got Smarts under ground started, there was a decent amount of inferred and indicated resources that could have converted to proven and probable category.
Any way it is what it is, we wait and see what develops
