I can see he upset you so you spewed out some rubbish based on your uni theory but let me tell you from experince it isn't hard.

Every large business has monthly cost meetings where department heads bring their data. For example sales bring their forward demand which is constantly updated, ops bring their costs, logistics bring their costs etc.

They would know very well they are losing money and the outlook.

On top of that the dfs was deceptive in that it never included a current spot price in the sensitivity study. Why? becasue at current price the project is non viable. Capex is greater than npv. I've never seen a dfs that omits current conditions but uses some estimate of future price. You could use anything. Heads should roll.

The reality is current operations should be put in care and maintenance and Moblan mothballed.

This will likely be the outcome of the review.

Any board that knowingly destroys captial on a bet on price should be sacked.
