I'm not sure if "cure" is exactly the right term, but I guess in an ideal world that would be the desired outcome and it potentially could be.

I think the aim would be to reduce the severity of symptoms in serious cases. The question will be by the time it is given will it be able to have enough effect if virus is already in the body and doing damage. From my basic understanding and what others have posted we think it can kill the virus as well as bacteria resulting from viral infection.
I am guessing the issue will be by the time symptoms are serious the virus has already entered via ACE2 receptors in lungs etc and at this point may be too late for anti viral to stop existing infection, only prevent further infection? Does anyone have an idea of if this is right or am I well off the mark?

Many of these tratments seem to be last line of defence and only given when symptoms are already serious.
