the leaky ship point is a good one scrapper... would also point out that interested party may not have looked long enough for a leak to occur???
While I have been involved in TOs before (target side) I wasn't part of management - just support crew - I can assume the process would be something like this - with many things in between
Obviously this process took time:
initial approach
Investigation of company behind offer / board room discussion
activation of legal team
correspondence between parties to confirm genuity / scope / validity of offer
scheduling of meeting (would assume data room access would have been virtual)
setup of secure data room to enable such process to occur
virtual review of 9SP internals
Conclusion of proposal
If this deal was virtual... there may have been very few within 9SP privvy to the offer
