What do you think will happen in the medium term? I believe that deaths for people over 70 will increase. Reasons include:
1. Delays in elective surgery eg increases risk of falls 2. Less visits to the doctor- Over time, this is likely to lead to deterioration in health and increased probability of death 3. Less willingness to stay in nursing homes (eg because of social isolation from family members and/ or fear of catching c-19). Staying at home could increase the risk of death eg due to falls, inability to manage one's health, etc. 4. Less support services eg carers less willing to work with elderly due to fear of catching c-19; eg funds diverted away from support services because of lack of funding (eg as the gov pays off the huge debt).
