The potential advantage of NOX66 is that by inactivating STING, it inhibits at their source not just one cytokine but a
wide range of cytokines implicated in a cytokine storm.
We know that administration of NOX66 is planned to take place after the immune system has fought the coronavirus but before a cytokine storm causes irreparable damage to the respiratory system. This suggests to me that experienced intensive care specialists have been involved in the trial design, which is another good thing.
We know from anti-cancer trials that NOX66 is absolutely safe to use in humans. We also know that Noxopharm has requested regulatory approval to commence COVID clinical trials, and I cannot imagine they could do this without first conducting proof-of-concept tests in animals.
