Gave it a quick read, looks like the collection agencies are losing their power and effectiveness. Publishers are setting up separate agreements for various publications directly with the monitors , doesn't seem to be parity in copyright costs between the three monitoring players and that was the thrust of the application by Isentia. The tribunal has dismissed that application but requested everyone get around the table. Looks like an ongoing saga, plenty of lawyers, new forums and appeals Im guessing. Ultimately ISD are looking for a level playing field, they want to lower the bar of copyright costs, the publishers want to raise it. Copyright has always been a cost plus game..ultimately the customer pays it. Problem ISD have is that the competitors have signed agreements for lower rates, so ISD will keep fighting for a decision that creates parity, either rates down for them or up for everyone. Up would put huge pressure on Streem as they are the big market discounters. I think the recent FB, Google ruling is pertinent here...publishers are looking to strengthen their position so ultimately it may be that the lower rates may disappear for Meltwater and Streem. Will be interesting to hear the results of the round table....
