    "So yes debt often is attitudinal rather than ability to pay" As a collection manager for quite a few years many moons ago I found that what you have said was correct. I divided my collections into 4 segments once I had done my initial assessments. 1. Those willing and able to pay. 2. those willing and unable to pay. 3. Those unwilling but able to pay 4. those unwilling and unable to pay. This leaves you to develop strategies which will convert them to paying as soon as practical. So changing the debtors attitude was key to obtaining payment. Mind you we had many more avenues than you would have today. Todays writeoffs were often sent to prison for a few days for nonpayment of an unsatisfied judgement summons something you will not see today. CCP use AI to change attitude I would imagine these days.
