I think it would be more to do with paying less for the debts to account for the "lighter touch" required by current community standards.
As we saw with Collection House, in my opinion they bid aggressively for PDLs and subsequently employed aggressive legal tactics to make the numbers work, it all blew up in the end but the CEO who presided over that debacle still did quite well.
ccp did not overpay and therefore did not require agressive tactics.
