@Carbondriver - I quoted from memory - and was wrong. The shares I own now in my small portfolio are LTR, PLS and S32 (only a small amount, but will get more, by judicious borrowing and repayment, which i did last year). I made (and used) about $10 000 last year, which helped improve my lifestyle and I won't have to pay anything to the tax people as I have a carry-over loss from 2008 of now $86 000 - so i was a bit wary of the stock market for many years after that disaster, but kept putting in my income tax return etc.

I have made my own inquiries of people who live around the mine, but of course, they are not privy to everything that's going on.
There is a lot to learn about stocks - my interest in EUR is purely academic, as I have never seen such complicated dealings in the few stocks I was invested in - and just generally. HotCopper is a huge learning resource!
