As far as I know, the mining permit has been granted. A distinction is also made between open-cast and underground mining.
Currently, 80 million tons of mineral raw materials are mined in Austria every year, in addition to raw materials from non-mining extraction.
An environmental compatibility certificate is required if the area outside the mine is larger than 1 hectare, which is considered a production site.
However, CRML remains below this requirement and uses less land.
Another major advantage, in addition to the massive reduction in production costs, is that the converter is being built in Saudi Arabia.
