Excuse my ignorance, but could you please share how you determine 'shorts are in control of manipulating the SP'
Currently there are 2,090,289 short positions (0.43%). Daily gross short sales reported since the 10th February indicate modest levels of activity.
Given 20 day average trading volume of 1,040,900 (2 days to cover all positions), there is no urgency for shorters.
