The asx makes a heap heap of money putting these customers servers in the ASX liquidity centre, right next to the exchange.
If you put a buy in on ogx at say 11.5 my underatanding is when you hit buy, these server farms connected to the ASX are able to see your buy order coming in and submit its own sell order before yours hits the exchange!
The general reccomendation is to not put orders at market anymore but always at limit.
Lots of soph investors also no longer trade using traditional asx exchange but in dark pool exchanges away from HFT so computers can't see their hand/intentions to buy/sell
