The Coalition has shown great support for the industry and continues to make reforms, such as the second child discount and removal of the cap. I'm not sure anything the Labor Party will do will make this shoot up suddenly.
This isn't going back to $4 for many reasons. It is no longer a growth stock with multiple arbitrage buying centres at a rapid rate. At 500 odd centres they need a huge acquisition or many medium-sized transactions to have any meaningful impact on the bottom line. G8 is consolidating what they have and not long ago had over 60 underperforming centres for sale (not sure how many now). This is nothing more than a dividend play at the moment.
