Yes, I was convinced to buy BKW for the youngsters by an advisor as he reckons they have a lot of assets that are held at cost price, in particular land assets, and they are growing when you look at the chart. I haven't ever liked any advisor I met, which is why I have learnt to do it myself, so I am skeptical about BKW.
The issue that I have is I reckon I can get better returns using my methods.
Bit like the survey that reveals 80% of drivers believe they are better than average drivers
18% pa with no effort is a good result for sure!
It will be interesting to compare BKW against my actively managed portfolio over the next 5 years. If they do better than me I can stop my work and just tip it all into their company I suppose. Being in a SMSF I am fortunate to have no tax so I can realise capital gains without any thought of the repercussions.
I am positively impressed that you are an investor at your age - wish I had done the same. The reality was I had no spare dollars then - even if I had, my temperament at that age was probably not the right one for shares. I was in a hurry. Still am I suppose, just because my days left on the planet are now my focus rather than wanting to get ahead and provide for my own kids.
