I actually think that GC1 cannot continue to hold APT as it's been promoted into the ASX100 - I have to check that though.
I read this on 1 July in AFR: "Fund manager Michael Glennon of Glennon Capital was previously a shareholder of Afterpay, but he said the increased volatility has led him to sell out of the stock. That is despite the stock recently entering the S&P/ASX 100 share market index."Mr Glennon said he is more concerned about smartphone applications muscling in on Afterpay's market than he is about Visa offering instalment payments.“Apple Pay or Android Pay is on everyone’s phone. The fact that Visa has taken note means others have.”
This was in an article by Jonathan Shapiro.
I am not sure if that is true (GC1 having sold out) as it appeared in the 30 June report top 5 holdings... If he did sell out then he would be considered wrong by now as the price has rebounded but given the year-end may well have sold and bought in early July again. I am not really a fan of APT - I worked in a retail chain overseas that had revolving credit plans and the service costs over time become expensive. We are far more connected than those days but look at the costs of collecting bad debt... Let me say that the people with the best ability to run this must be VISA and as MG put it Apple pay... I am already paying apple pay each month so providing this service would enhance their income with no additional risk.
I agree with Axsess (AXL) but I have a view that it grew to 5% by way of share price appreciation. Same as APT what he did not do was take some money off the table. I will grant that 5% in AXL is far higher than 5% in APT.
At least, we are not running off to brokers to hand them our investment funds LOL.
Didn't understand the context of your banter, so sorry for butting in on your conversation. Glad I don't have to watch CDM just looking now was very scary indeed.
I hope we keep getting more share buybacks I think it will help us clear out the unhappy holders or we will have to face off the wall of worry as the share hopefully climbs back up the hill.
