if they tried to buyback the shares all in one go it would cause volatility. send the sp up in the short term then it would come back down. what's the point of that? better to slowly buy the shares back at a cheaper price. this improves future eps and actually increases existing shareholders stake in the company as it is the opposite of dilution.
