I already assumed you cannot do it better.
What it is appalling to hear is that you don't even know how it could have been done it better but you are still criticizing.
That leaves you with the single ground of how others have done to base your critics on. As if it was that simple.
In summary: (1) you don't know, (2) you can't do, (3) but assume if others did, that must be easy.
