JERUSALEM — Israeli forces occupied the West Bank city of Nablus early Friday in a response to an attack by Palestinian gunmen on a nearby settlement hours earlier.
Palestinians said about 50 tanks and several bulldozers moved into Nablus from three directions, meeting with no initial resistance.
The attack on the settlement of Itamar killed at least six Israelis, including a mother and three of her children, and wounded at least eight others. The gunmen burst into the victims' home and opened fire.
