    To give a brief picture of QUB rail operations, on 1 August 2022 as at 1500 AEST:

    the heavy loaded steel train number 1WM7 was stationary at Somerton Loop (north of Broadmeadows, Vic) running at least 20 minutes late on its lengthy route from Port Kembla through Wollongong and Enfield, Sydney down to Melbourne's Dynon rail terminal.

    the reverse movement 2MW7, devoid of steel so just a rake of empty wagons, was not far south of Campbelltown, NW running 100 minutes late

    loaded steel train 1WB7 from Port Kembla to the Acacia Ridge rail terminal in sunny Brisbane had almost reached Coffs Harbour, and was only five minutes late

    a containerised ore QUB train (numbered '8964') from the Sealink siding at Blayney,central west NSW was at Pt Kembla, probably unloading

    a grain train ('8968" from Dubbo or environs in western NSW had travelled down through Parkes to join the Sydney to Melbourne line at Cootamundra West, and had departed Goulburn heading for the Sydney yards and then down to Pt Kembla (the direct Moss Vale - Unanderra line remains closed until close to the end of September 2022 due to landslides: this is a quicker way by rail for grain to reach Pt Kembla from the Riverina and if via Cootamundra, from western NSW)

    another QUB grain train was sitting in the rail yard at Cootamundra.

    This small picture is by no means exhaustive but it demonstrates how the important, vital steel trains are running well. Thankfully no floods or derailments to disrupt operations.
