I guess that I should have waited until auction was over to comment. Unfortunately the sellers won in the end primarily due to a big buyer (about 300k) cancelling his bid.
Does anyone have any idea what this buyer is up to? He placed a big buy (300 odd k) at both of today's auctions and then progressively reduced them as time counted down. I understand this if it is necessary for the buyer to get his cheap buying price, but in both cases today he could have done that for his full buy. Maybe he is just trying to stuff sellers up by forcing them to sell below the price they expect, or it could be to try and make the price close lower, or this morning open lower.
