    1. Clarification on Background gas and what is considered a good multiple

    Background gas = An average or baseline measure of gas entrained in circulating mud. This baseline trend pertains to gas that is liberated downhole while drilling through a uniform lithologic interval at a constant rate of penetration.

    A good gas show multiple in gas exploration drilling typically ranges from 3 to 10 times the background gas level.

    This indicates a significant increase in gas concentration, suggesting the presence of a potential hydrocarbon reservoir.Here's a breakdown of gas show multiples and their interpretation:

    Gas show multiple of 1-3: This range suggests a minor increase in gas concentration, which may not be indicative of a significant hydrocarbon reservoir.

    Gas show multiple of 3-10: This range is considered a good indicator of a potential hydrocarbon reservoir. The higher the multiple, the stronger the indication of hydrocarbons.

    Gas show multiple above 10: This range suggests a strong presence of hydrocarbons, warranting further evaluation and potential production testing.

    2. "The gas shows meet our appraisal objectives"

    @sbvb, @Dufrane:
    gas shows are in line with what was expected. I am very pleased with this, that means that what they had modeled is actually there. That would also infer that the stimulation techniques they have modeled and will apply could/will work.
