I think you'll find they have a different audience. Very few users who use Windows will opt for a MacBook, and those that use MacOSX only have one choice...
The Surface/Surface Pro is very big amongst big corporates who want tablets that can be configured to match their Active Directory Group Policies (i.e. the security policies can be rolled out throughout the whole organisation without any additional configuration). Unless a better Windows tablet is released (they're all android), I can't see the demand falling.
Can't really talk about the Surface book though... great hardware but somewhat overpriced.
