Actually my comment was half tongue-in-cheek, it would be irrational, I think, to borrow money to pay redundancy and then maintain a high dividend, it's effectively the same as borrowing money to pay a dividend (which I know of course that some companies have done at certain times).
I'll stick to my earlier thought that the integration is a little bit harder and longer than DD predicted, and he needs another 12 months for the benefits to flow through. It's disappointing as a shareholder looking for instant gratification, but as a part-owner in the business (as we shareholders are, of course) it makes sense to stick with the plan.
