I suppose you would have to ask them that. They have been known to invest back into the companies which take on their tech, but they have also been know to bail out - eg. ESI (the difference between Iconic and ESI is that ESI is engaged with the coal industry so not exactly a good look for the university).
Given the recent impetus for universities to get more involved commercially, then they would likely tip in if they see a business and also an ongoing academic case for the involvement.
