Has anybody ever heard NST mention mining to margin before? I can't remember it - that's all.
Seems better to mine development ore when prices are low, and high grade ore when prices are high - get as much processed in good times as possible. The market doesn't really care so much about the smoothness of earnings in the mining industry - otherwise they would be invested in banks or industrials.
