Hi plough, one major advantage of K-Tig is you can do actually without wire and without bevel. It will just fuse it.
This saves significant time and cost (bevelling making heaps of mess and wasting time).
in our application we have single bevel and do use wire on circ weld.
We are doing 5mm 316 SS but also running trials on 8mm carbon steel at moment.
We have also found it more forgiving than we expected.
The K-Tig equipment is not large, however I would imagine it as really a workshop piece of equipment, wind is a nightmare for this type of welding.
Can’t comment too much on 6G as not part of how we have used it and had qualified, however I would think not as the heat generated would likely have metal running away from you.
From a production standpoint it’s been great, we have also been on a mission to increase Australian manufacturing and this fits into that very well.
Haven’t had time to look into UK deal as yet.
