IFM Investors’ $98.9 billion infrastructure fund has agreed to buy a majority stake in a US-based biogas producer, in the giant’s first move to diversify its spin-off net zero infrastructure portfolio to include so-called renewable gas.The cash injection into GreenGas USA via its net zero infrastructure fund - a subsidiary of the $98.9 billion fund - is the latest sign of growing global interest in biogas, marked by oil super-majors signing a string of deals in Europe and America last year.Biomethane is chemically identical to fossil fuel gas but produced by processing agricultural, industrial and household waste.
