Not really, a 50 million share share buy back would be on market and cost a little over $200M and reduce SOI by bugger all as a % , s
A dividend announcement would hurt the shorters more as they either have to stump up the dividend payment and hope the SP falls a significant amount post ex date to buy back the shares or if it doesn't stump up the dividend payment and pay a higher price for the shares to give back to the lender.
Either way, I wouldn't want to be short on PLS currently.
