eastern seaboard of China is the richest region, locals ( countryside ) usually put money together to go around world buy and sell properties and take profits. you come with 10 kilos of gold you are in, but if you come with 10 thousand shares of NVIDIA they would just laugh at you, locals all know what you have or have not there for wether to do business with you.
that's why every time when gold price drops you will see lots of Chinese ladys buy kilos of gold
